Horary chart examples: real cases, with the full reports
Most pages of horary chart examples online show you a chart and a reading. What they rarely show is the part that matters: what happened next. The three cases below are published in full, signed by the astrologer who judged them, written up in the format the School of Traditional Astrology requires for its diploma — and every one of them ends with a verified outcome.
Two were judged by astrologers who trained in María Blaquier's horary course. The first is hers.
"Will I get pregnant this year?" — María Blaquier
A 42-year-old woman wrote in early February 2021 with no context and no personal details: just the question. That ruled out one of the usual checks, comparing the horary chart against the natal to see whether the question is well rooted. María took the other route: if the chart describes the querent and her situation precisely, it is answering.
The querent was signified by Mars in Taurus, in detriment and peregrine, at the end of its cycle: someone no longer young, without the resources to reach what she wants on her own. The possibility of pregnancy is read from the 5th house, which fell in Leo, a barren sign, ruled by a Sun in Aquarius, in detriment. Between Mars and the Sun there was a separating square: the connection between the querent and the pregnancy existed, but it was coming apart going forward.
There was one more detail that could not be set aside. Mars was in exact aspect to Mercury, ruler of the 6th house of illness, and Mercury was combust — burnt by the Sun, which is to say invisible, or not yet diagnosed. Saturn, partile conjunct the Moon, describes dry, hard things. María wrote that it would be worth checking for a physical problem, perhaps a lump.
The reply came on 10 February:
"This may sound strange, but right now I have an infection in the perineum, which is very odd because the blood tests show nothing out of place. I am reading your answer minutes after leaving the doctor's office, and he has just confirmed that on top of the infection I have a cyst."
The judgment was that a natural pregnancy during 2021 was unlikely, and that only a treatment could change it: the Moon was translating light from Saturn, ruler of the 10th house of treatments, to Venus and Jupiter, the two planets of fertility. In August the querent wrote again. Both fertility workups had come back clear, she had a small uterine polyp, and a fertility treatment had been recommended that the couple were not comfortable with. They decided to wait.

"How did Gene Hackman, his wife and their dog die?" — Ana Andrade
On 26 February 2025 it was announced that the actor Gene Hackman, 95, his wife Betsy Arakawa, a pianist, and one of their dogs, Zinna, had been found dead at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The bodies showed signs of mummification: they had died several days earlier. Suicide, violence and carbon monoxide were ruled out. Nothing else was known.
The Peruvian astrologer Ana Andrade cast a chart the following day, 27 February at 19:29 in Lima, to see all three deaths in a single chart. This is a different use of horary from a consultation: nobody is asking about their own life, and the answer will be checkable against a public record.
The Ascendant fell in a late degree of Virgo, and its ruler, Mercury, sat in Pisces right on the cusp of the 7th, in detriment and under the Sun's beams: Hackman, dependent on the other. Betsy Arakawa was taken from the Descendant, and her ruler, Jupiter, was in Gemini, also in detriment, at the end of its cycle. Zinna was read from the 6th house, the house of animals, ruled by a peregrine Saturn.
What organised the whole judgment was the stack of planets in the 6th: the Sun, the Moon, Saturn and Mercury, all there. The Moon was cazimi, nine arc-minutes from the Sun — the heart of a New Moon, the end of a cycle and maximum vulnerability. And the Moon's onward course ended in conjunction with Saturn, besieged between the two malefics at the end of its run. Neptune, angular on the Descendant, laid the atmosphere of confusion over all of it.
On 3 March, with no official findings yet, Ana wrote her judgment: the wife died first, leaving husband and dog without care; her death came from something affecting stomach and lungs that was not obvious in her diagnosis; his was tied to the heart and did not share the same cause; roughly seven days separated the two; the dog died last, immobilised, from lack of food.
On 7 March the findings were published. Betsy Arakawa died on 11 February of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. Gene Hackman died on 18 February — seven days later — of hypertension and complications of Alzheimer's, with atrial fibrillation, disoriented and without access to food. Zinna's necropsy found no disease, trauma or poisoning: her stomach was practically empty.

Before anything else: how the question has to be worded
Every case below started from a question tight enough to judge. A vague one produces a chart that is perfectly drawn and completely unreadable.
The more specific the question, the more precise the answer. If you do not know how to word it, we help you adjust it before the chart is cast.
"Will my daughter have children within 10 to 12 years?" — Javier Fernández
The question comes from the father, not from the woman it concerns, and that changes the reading: the daughter is taken from the 5th house, and her whole affair is read from there using derived houses. Her ruler, Venus, was strong and partile trine the 5th house itself. The illness worrying her father fell to Jupiter, ruler of the 6th, retrograde and in detriment, in a cadent house: distress, confinement, a possible hospital stay. But the aspect between Venus and Jupiter was a mutually separating trine, and the daughter had more dignity than the illness. The illness was being left behind.
As for children, neither the sign on the 5th nor its ruler's sign is barren, though both point to few. The Moon's next aspects were trines to the two benefics — Jupiter and Venus, the natural significators of fertility — and a partile sextile to Mercury, the significator of children. Javier noted that the Moon made that run through the via combusta, a difficult stretch that forecasts emotional strain. His judgment was favourable: yes, within the stated period, probably a single child, and possibly requiring a treatment or an operation.

What these examples have in common
Three different questions — a pregnancy, three deaths, a decade-long forecast — and the same procedure underneath.
- The chart is cast for the moment the astrologer understands the question, not for the querent's birth. No birth time is needed.
- Everything is assigned a significator before anything is judged. The querent from the Ascendant and its ruler; the thing asked about from its own house; other people from derived houses.
- Dignity and house placement say how much power each party has. A ruler in detriment, peregrine or cadent describes someone without the means to bring the matter about.
- The Moon carries the story forward. Its next aspects, in order, describe how the matter unfolds — and their distance in degrees gives the timing.
- The answer is falsifiable. Each of these three was written down before the outcome was known, and then checked against it.
All three reports are written in the format the STA requires for the charts of its diploma. Ana's and Javier's are coursework from María's horary astrology course: if what you want is to learn to read a chart like these, that is the route rather than a consultation.
